Why Mornings And Reiki Are The Perfect Combination

Why Mornings And Reiki Are The Perfect Combination

I typically start my mornings with Reiki self-healing sessions; I'll spend 20-25 minutes giving myself Reiki (this technique is taught in Reiki 1 Certification). I am of the mindset that starting my mornings with a sense of clarity and guiding the flow of energy sets the right tone for the day. Whenever someone books their first appointment, or asks for a follow up, I always recommend a morning timeslot. The earlier, the better! It's the reason I start my appointments as early as 7AM. Reiki is beneficial throughout the day, but the mornings are considered the golden hour for me!

Reiki appointments are often considered beneficial in the morning for several reasons, Here's why:

1. Fresh Energy: After a night’s sleep, your body and mind are more rested and receptive. This can make the energetic shifts and healing from Reiki more effective. My recommendation is to go to bed as early as possible the evening before your appointment.

2. Sets the Tone for the Day: A morning session can promote calmness, clarity, and balance, helping you carry that energy into the rest of your day. When you start your day with a Reiki session, you are allowing yourself to tap into a source of positive energy that can help you face the challenges ahead with a clear mind and a calm spirit. Reiki can help release any negative energy or emotions that may be weighing you down, allowing you to approach the day with a renewed mental state.

3. Less Interference: The mind is typically less cluttered with stress and distractions in the morning, which allows for deeper relaxation and connection during the session.

4. Better Integration: Receiving Reiki in the morning gives your body and energy system the rest of the day to process and integrate the healing without being interrupted by sleep or deep rest (which may follow evening sessions).

Here are some types to support your Reiki session:

1. Get a Good Night’s Sleep: Try to go to bed early the night before so you wake up refreshed and receptive. Avoid stimulants (like caffeine) for a 12-18 hours before your session. I also ask clients to refrain from chocolate and red meat. Also a personal preference is to try and refrain from screens as much as possible before your session to be sure you are fully disconnected from the outside and connecting within.

2. Wake Up Calmly: Give yourself extra time in the morning to avoid rushing. I typically ask clients to be "awake" for at least 60 minutes before their session, so their energy is present and active. A few minutes of deep breathing or light stretching upon waking can center you before your session.

3. Eat Lightly (or Not at All): If you need to eat, keep it light (e.g., fruit, tea, or a small smoothie). Another reason why the mornings are supportive for a Reiki session! A heavy meal can make your body more focused on digestion than on energy flow.

4. Wear Comfortable Clothing: Choose loose, soft clothing that lets you fully relax during the session. Layers are helpful in case the room is cooler or warmer than expected.

5. Set an Intention: Before your session, take a moment to reflect on what you’d like to receive—peace, clarity, healing, etc. This isn’t mandatory, but it helps align your energy with your goals. We will always discuss your intentions before we begin, so thinking about this ahead of time always helps! Trust me, you'll know what you are trying to achieve in the session.

6. Hydrate: Drink water before (and after) your session to support energetic flow and detoxification

While Reiki is not required to be facilitated in the morning, I feel my best when I start my day with Reiki, and I do find that morning appointments support a full experience. Always listen to your body and your intuition for what time works best for you!
